Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The four public media companies will pay the workers back for the month of February, for postponing, to March, the implementation of the Occupational Qualifier, informed yesterday, in Luanda, the spokesman of the Union of Angolan Journalists (SJA).<\/p>\n

Faustino Henriques, who provided the information at the end of a meeting held at the Angolan Writers Union, between the SJA and the workers of the Angola Press Agency (Angop), Edi\u00e7\u00f5es Novembro, R\u00e1dio Nacional and Televis\u00e3o P\u00fablica de Angola, explained that this was a decision agreed with the managements of those companies.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson said that the SJA and the boards of directors saw the most favorable solution in the retroactive payment, taking into account the failure to comply with the 50-day moratorium period, requested by them for its implementation.<\/p>\n

“After the public companies’ proposal had been analyzed, he explained, the SJA countered it, suggesting that, as the given deadline ended in February, the best would be to pay the retroactive period for the month in question”, he clarified.<\/p>\n

Faustino Henriques said that the process is not perfect, as it will probably face many complaints. However, the objective is to carry out periodic evaluations of employees every three years, so that they can progress in their careers according to the categories.<\/p>\n

The trade unionist stressed that it is expected that the Occupational Qualifier will bring justice to journalists, who over the years have progressed in academic qualifications and length of service.<\/p>\n
