Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Angolan ambassador declared that the mediation process of President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o in the conflict between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda has the support of Angolans and the international community.<\/b><\/p>\n

“We received, in Kigali, expressions of support from diplomatic representatives from various countries and from international and regional organizations, in this city, in support of the initiatives of President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, within the framework of full compliance with both the Luanda Roadmap and of the Nairobi Process, for the establishment of peace in the Great Lakes Region, with main emphasis in the East of the DRC, more specifically in North Kivu, where the M23 Movement and the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) are fighting violently\u201d, explained.<\/p>\n

According to the Angolan diplomat, the diplomatic corps, politicians, students and Rwandan citizens, in general, consider Angola’s role to be “essential” in the process with a view to pacifying the Great Lakes Region.<\/p>\n

“They all hope and believe that Angola will achieve positive results in mediating the conflict between the DRC and Rwanda”, highlighted Eduar-do Octa\u0301vio.<\/p>\n

He underlined the willingness regularly expressed, in Kigali, by diplomats from different countries and citizens from different strata of Rwandan society to contribute in order to facilitate all the work that the mediator of the conflict develops, in favor of pacifying the situation in the region and on the continent.<\/p>\n

To reflect the importance that the mediator attaches to the process of mediating the conflict between the two belligerents, Eduardo Octavio recalled that President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o traveled to Rwanda, precisely on the day that Angola celebrated 47 years of Independence.<\/p>\n

“We hope, therefore, that the results will be positive and that, soon, the region will reach the desired peace”, said the ambassador, who declined to comment on the accusations between the two belligerents about the causes of the conflict, stressing only that he feels the interest of the Rwandan authorities to collaborate towards the achievement of definitive peace in the Great Lakes Region.<\/p>\n

“We regularly speak with Rwandan officials and political leaders and all of them openly express an interest in contributing to the process with a view to achieving peace in the Great Lakes Region”, he informed, noting that from a political point of view the Republic of Rwanda is a stable country.<\/p>\n

“Internally, you feel this security. Rwanda is classified as one of the safest African countries”, he said.<\/p>\n

Regarding the Gastronomic Week of Angola, which took place until yesterday (Sunday) in one of the hotels in Kigali, the ambassador said that it was an opportunity to promote Angolan cuisine, delicacies and delicacies.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the cultural event, which is also part of diplomacy, is taking place for the third time in the Rwandan capital, on the anniversary of the National Independence.<\/p>\n
