Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, began yesterday, on the second and last day of his stay in Oslo, capital of the Kingdom of Norway, the diplomatic journey with a visit to the Fram Museum. The main attraction of the place is a polar ship \u201cFram\u201d, built in 1892.<\/b><\/p>\n

This museum honors Norwegian polar exploration and the three great Norwegian polar explorers, being Fridthof Nansen, Otto Sverdrup and Roald Amundsen.<\/p>\n

At the Fram Museum, also accompanied by the First Lady, the Head of State signed the book of honour, in addition to having toured several wings of this monument, a symbol of Norwegian emancipation at the time of the discoveries.<\/p>\n

The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, paid a two-day official visit to Norway, which began on Thursday, with a presence at the Business Forum organized by the Norwegian Association of Business with Africa (NABA). The event was attended by more than 30 businessmen, including Norwegians, Angolan residents and others from the cities of Luanda and Benguela, respectively.<\/p>\n

Talk about historical cooperation<\/b><\/p>\n

The President of the Republic of Angola, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, and the King of Norway, Harald V, held a meeting yesterday to address the historic cooperation and friendship between the two States.<\/p>\n

Harald V received Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, at the Royal Palace, in a private audience, without any statements at the end of that meeting.<\/p>\n

The Head of State was at the Royal Palace accompanied by the First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenc\u0327o.<\/p>\n

This was also one of the highlights of the two-day official visit to Oslo by the Angolan President.<\/p>\n

Since Norway is a monarchy, royalty represents the State conventionally, equating the functions of the Sovereign King Harald V to that of a President of the Republic.<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o finished yesterday his two-day visit, which began Thursday with his presence at the Business Forum “Angola Business Forum”, promoted by the Norwegian Association of Business with Africa (NABA).<\/p>\n

At the event, the President was the main speaker and took the opportunity to invite Norwegian investors to diversify their business with Angola, moving away from traditional oil cooperation.<\/p>\n

Unitel privatization only through an international public tender<\/b><\/p>\n

The Angolan Government admits the future possibility of privatizing the telecommunications operator Unitel, whose nationalization, in October, aimed to protect public interests in this strategic asset, said yesterday in Oslo, capital of Norway, the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas .<\/p>\n

Diamantino Pedro Azevedo answered questions from journalists at the end of the two-day state visit, carried out by President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o to Norway.<\/p>\n

Being the ministerial body responsible for Sonangol, Unitel’s shareholder, the minister said that the nationalization also aimed to give greater stability to the company and guarantee its efficient functioning, in order for it to fulfill all its business functions.<\/p>\n

“The nationalization of the Angolan telephone operator Unitel aimed only at protecting a strategic asset for the State”, he said.<\/p>\n

According to the official, “if the State decides to sell these shares, of course it will always do so, as I said, with the intention of having more stability, more efficiency, and will certainly use the country’s specialized and legal institutions for its alienation, as is the case of the public tender\u201d.<\/p>\n

In October of this year, the Angolan State, through a presidential decree, took 50 percent of the shares of the operator Unitel, held in equal 25 percent by the then partners Isabel dos Santos and Leopoldino do Nascimento, through the companies Vidatel and Geni, respectively.<\/p>\n

Nationalization or nationalization is the term given to the establishment of state ownership and control over a company, service or activity hitherto under the control or with relevant participation of private individuals.<\/p>\n
