Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The president of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, received, this Monday, in Luanda, the deputies Benedito Daniel, from the PRS, and Nimi a Simbi, from the FNLA, party leaders who decided, in this V Legislature, to create a Mixed Parliamentary Group.<\/b><\/p>\n

Benedito Daniel, leader of the PRS and president of the Mixed Parliamentary Group, told the press that the audience served to present to Carolina Cerqueira some concerns related to the internal work of the National Assembly.<\/p>\n

Regarding the creation of the Mixed Group, Benedito Daniel explained that a party representation can only submit a bill to the National Assembly if it has the signature of a Parliamentary Group, which is made up of three deputies.<\/p>\n

With the PRS winning only two parliamentarians in the General Elections of August 24, 2022 and the FNLA another two, it was possible to form the Parliamentary Group and take its projects to the sessions of the House of Laws.<\/p>\n

“Today, with the Mixed Parliamentary Group, we can already present the projects of interpretation of our parties, as well as those that can be interpreted by the citizens that we represent in the National Assembly”, said Benedito Daniel.<\/p>\n

In this V Legislature, the National Assembly has three Parliamentary Groups, namely, the MPLA, with 124 deputies, UNITA, with 90, and the Mixed PRS and FNLA, with four deputies.<\/p>\n

The Angolan Humanist Party (PHA), led by Florbela Malaquias, the only woman running for president on 24 August, has parliamentary representation, by electing two deputies to the National Assembly.<\/p>\n

The National Assembly is made up of 220 deputies, 130 of whom are elected in the national constituency and 90 by provincial constituencies, that is, five in each of the country’s 18 provinces.<\/p>\n
