Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Customers of the National Electricity Distribution Company (ENDE) in Cunene owe more than one billion kwanzas.<\/b><\/p>\n

The head of ENDE’s Communication Office in Cunene, Lu\u00eds Kapintango, says that, adding that the debt is divided between public and private institutions and individual customers, a situation that imposes several limitations on the company’s regular performance and on the implementation of new projects. of electrification, in other localities of the province. “The high accumulated debt

Lu\u00eds Kapitango said that ENDE is carrying out an awareness campaign on the importance of paying for energy consumption, with the aim of recovering the money owed, work that will extend to all municipalities in the province.<\/p>\n

New connections<\/b><\/p>\n

Last year, 1,955 new household connections were made in Cunene province, in the Onahumba and Onakhoshi neighborhoods, on the outskirts of Ondjiva, and Calemba, in Cahama, an increase of 49 percent compared to 2020. Lu\u00eds Kapintango explained that in collaboration with the municipal administrations of Cuanhama and Cahama, three 250 KVA Transformation Poles (PT) were set up, which made it possible to carry out new household connections, and another one in progress that foresees another 600 connections in residences in different neighbourhoods.<\/p>\n

The head of ENDE’s Communications Office in Cunene informed that, for this year, there are projects that will bring electricity, for the first time, to the neighborhoods of Ongwe, Kamukwa, Mukumbwaimbi, in Ondjiva, Hidipo, in Santa-Clara, and Angry, in Cahama.<\/p>\n

Lu\u00eds Kapintango said that the requalification of the low voltage network is also underway in the city of Ondjiva, with the burying of cables that were on the surface, replacement of cabinets and improvement of some points that previously did not offer efficient service.<\/p>\n

The ENDE Distribution Center in Cunene currently controls 18,862 customers, of which 14,312 are on the post-paid system, distributed across the municipalities of Cuanhama, Ombadja, Namacunde, Cahama and Curoca.<\/p>\n
