Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angola assumed, in Hanoi (Vietnam), the vice-presidency of the World Peace Council (WPC) for the African region, with the election of the Angolan Elisa Salvador.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to a press release cited on Saturday, the current president of the Angolan League of Friendship and Solidarity with the Peoples (LAASP) was elected vice-president of this international organization at the end of the 22nd World Peace Assembly, which took place on 21 on the 26th of this month, in Hanoi.<\/p>\n

Representing Angola at the event, Elisa Salvador considered the action of the World Peace Council necessary to preserve a better world without conflicts.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the meeting, he recalled that Angola “does not support military struggles and conflicts, coups d’e\u0301tat and rebel movements”, but develops an active international aid in search of solutions and union between peoples, always striving for dialogue and maintenance of peace and the stability of countries.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, he highlighted the role of the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, who selflessly seeks for the union of Africans, having been distinguished as the “Champion of Peace”, a title that demonstrates the work and effort of the Angolan Head of State in the security of peace.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, he referred that Angola’s internal plan also strives for the preservation of people’s rights, especially children and youth.<\/p>\n

The 22nd Assembly of the World Peace Council, held by the United Nations, in Hanoi, Vietnam, had as its objective the “strengthening of the anti-imperialist struggle and solidarity for a world of peace and social justice\u201d.<\/p>\n
