Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The former President of Cuba, Fidel Castro, was honored in Luanda, six years after his death. The ceremony took place at the Natural History Museum, under the auspices of the Angola-Cuba Embassy and Friendship League.<\/b><\/p>\n

At Friday’s ceremony, poems and songs were presented in memory of Commander Fidel Castro. At the end of the activity, the Cuban ambassador to Angola, Esther Armenteros, told the press that the tribute to the former leader of that country’s revolution, six years after his physical disappearance, is not to celebrate his death but his work.<\/p>\n

“His work was very great. It consisted of liberating Cuba from the dictatorship and creating a better society for everyone”, he said, stressing that the first time he saw Fidel Castro he was ten years old and a girl from a poor family, black and female. that he wouldn’t have a chance.<\/p>\n

“The Cuban revolution gave me this possibility to study and to be a person who benefits from the equality of women with men”, he said, stressing that skin color did not matter.<\/p>\n

“For me, Fidel Castro is an essential figure who will be remembered each year. We will not remember him with sadness, but with joy”, he said. President Agostinho Neto for his Christmas Centenary.<\/p>\n

“Agostinho Neto and Fidel Castro were very good friends. Today we are celebrating the birthday of one and the date of death of the other and they will always be alive in the hearts of their peoples, Angola and Cuba”, he observed.<\/p>\n

Esther Armenteros said that relations between Angola and Cuba are excellent and that in Angola there are more than 1,000 Cuban doctors, in all provinces, providing their services to the population.<\/p>\n

“We are completing 47 years of bilateral relations between the two countries and in other sectors relations are strong”, he reiterated, during the event marked with a photographic exhibition, with images of Fidel Castro with Agostinho Neto and other historical figures of Africa.<\/p>\n
