Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of State and head of the Civil House of the President of the Republic highlighted, this Thursday, in Luanda, the commitment of the Angolan authorities in strengthening the international legal framework for cooperation aimed at preserving the environment, with emphasis on fauna.<\/b><\/p>\n

Ada\u0303o de Almeida appealed, in this sense, to public bodies to adopt measures and “concrete policies” to ensure the effectiveness of environmental programs.<\/p>\n

He added that it is important to maintain conduct that does not harm the environment and is likely to compromise the rights of current and future generations.<\/p>\n

Ada\u0303o de Almeida, who was speaking at the opening of the 19th Meeting of Attorneys General of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), which takes place until today, in one of the tourist centers of Luanda, under the motto “Role of the Public Ministry in Environmental Protection” , recalled that protecting the environment is one of the greatest challenges in the world today.<\/p>\n

As the rule of law, he said, CPLP members consecrate the rule of law, whose observance, the respective Attorney General’s Offices are constitutional guardians.<\/p>\n

The official expressed concern about the consequences and environmental impact of the exploitation of mineral resources and stressed that the international community must make the actors responsible as one of the ways to prevent and mitigate the harmful effects of the activity.<\/p>\n

Ada\u0303o de Almeida attributed to the States the definition of environmental policies tending to the renewal and correct use of the available natural resources, as a guarantee of the sustainable development of humanity and improvement of the quality of life of the citizens.<\/p>\n

The Minister of State and head of the Civil House of the President of the Republic referred that Angola, as an “active member” of the international community, has been working to unequivocally position itself, more and more, as an environmentally friendly State that honors its commitments towards environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n

He underlined the engagement of the Angolan authorities in the energy transition process by reducing the use of fossil fuels and adopting environmentally friendly options, such as solar energy.<\/p>\n

He spoke, by the way, of the recent inauguration of two “large capacity” solar parks in Benguela province, stressing that similar projects are taking place in various regions of the country.<\/p>\n

“The Angolan legal order, whether by rules of domestic law or by international law, appears to protect the environment, insofar as it has legal rules that enshrine positions and prohibitions, which result in the unlawfulness of acts that do not comply with them conform,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n

For Ada\u0303o de Almeida, the concepts of territorial borders and State sovereignty do not resist climate change, arguing that from an environmental point of view, what happens in Angola can have an impact on Cape Verde and, thus, vice versa.<\/p>\n

‘If we want economic growth to enjoy better living conditions, it is also true that this right does not release us from the responsibility of not compromising the future of humanity’, said Ada\u0303o de Almeida, for whom environmental issues should be discussed universally , on the basis of multilateralism, to produce the desired effects.<\/p>\n

The impact of the exploitation of hydrocarbons and other minerals and the consequent liability for environmental damage, the sustainable use of the oceans for the conservation of marine biodiversity and human activity as a factor in the degradation of parks, sanctuaries and natural reserves, are the main themes in the meeting, which brings together deputies, members of the Executive, the diplomatic corps, CPLP attorneys general and other guests.<\/p>\n

Cyber crimes<\/b><\/p>\n

The Attorney General of the Republic, He\u0301lder Pitta Groz, indicated, this Thursday, in Luanda, that at the level of the institution that directs everything is being done with a view to implementing a close fight against cyber crimes.<\/p>\n

In terms of cybercrime and digital evidence, he informed that the members of the CPLP, with the exception of Portugal and Brazil, are not yet aligned for the challenge, arguing the lack of “heavy investments\u201d and specialization of magistrates in the matter.<\/p>\n

However, he added, some aspects are being introduced in the PGR so that the institution is more aware of the matter.<\/p>\n

In the welcome speech, at the opening ceremony of the Meeting of the General Prosecutors of the Republic of the CPLP, the magistrate highlighted the need to preserve the environment, noting that whenever the General Prosecutor’s Office receives complaints against environmental crimes from citizens and associations has acted in accordance with the legislation in force in the country.<\/p>\n

He stressed that complaints do not solve problems. He recommended, therefore, the intensification of campaigns to raise awareness of society against environmental crimes, not only in schools, but also at the level of other institutions.<\/p>\n

He underlined that the CPLP Attorney General’s Meeting takes place within the framework of the need to preserve the environment, stressing that the reflections focus on the preventive and coercive aspects.<\/p>\n

The individualities of the countries of the community present at the event, including Angolan experts versed in environmental issues, provide contributions on different topics, all in favor of nature preservation.<\/p>\n
