Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, starts his four-day working day in Washington this Monday, the highlight of which will be his participation in the US-Africa Summit, convened by his North American counterpart. The Angolan Head of State, who has been in the US capital since Saturday night, plans a meeting with the administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Samantha Power, for today.<\/p>\n

So far, the central theme of the agenda of the meeting between Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o and the head of this agency, the main person responsible in the United States of America for the administration of foreign civil aid and development assistance, is unknown.<\/p>\n

With a budget of over $27 billion, USAID is one of the largest official aid agencies in the world, and accounts for more than half of all US foreign aid.<\/p>\n

It is an organization that conducts the foreign policy of this country, through the promotion of human progress on a large scale and the expansion of free and stable societies.<\/p>\n

USAID is the lead US agency for extending assistance to countries recovering from disasters, trying to escape poverty, and engaged in democratic reforms.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the agenda of the Angolan Head of State also reserves participation in a Business Forum, on Wednesday (14), in which he is expected to intervene in one of the panels.<\/p>\n

According to the event’s programme, in addition to the Angolan Head of State, the President of Senegal and current president of the African Union, Macky Sall, should also participate.<\/p>\n

In the same session, the president and PCA of the Corporate Council on Africa, Florizelle Liser, the president and PCA of the US Chamber of Commerce, Suzanne Clark, and the Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimundo.<\/p>\n

Intervention is also expected from the Presidents of Kenya, Morocco, Algeria, Burundi, Cote d’Ivoire, Namibia and Togo, as well as the host President, Joe Biden, who will deliver the closing speech of the Business Forum.<\/p>\n

Topics to be addressed at this event include, among others, \u201cPacing the Course: the Future of US-Africa Trade and Investment Relations\u201d, \u201cBuilding a Sustainable Future: Partnerships to Finance African Infrastructure and the Energy Transition\u201d.<\/p>\n

Likewise, the Business Forum will address the themes \u201cExpanding Agribusiness: Partnerships to Reinforce Food Security and the Value Chain\u201d, and \u201cAdvancing Digital Connectivity: Partnerships to Enable Growth through Technology\u201d.<\/p>\n

Also on Wednesday, the participation of the Angolan Head of State is scheduled for an official dinner, to be offered by the US President to all invited African counterparts.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, the Angolan President will take part in the US-Africa Summit, which will bring together close to 50 African leaders invited by the US statesman, Joe Biden.<\/p>\n

His agenda foresees other audiences with figures of the American administration, among which the Secretary of State, Antony Blinken.<\/p>\n

The US-Africa Leaders Summit will take place from the 13th to the 15th of this month.<\/p>\n
