Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>More than 64 tons of various goods were sent to Cuba, as part of the support and solidarity campaign for the victims of Hurricane “Ian”.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was released this Monday, at a press conference summing up the first phase of the campaign, by the president of the Association of Ex-Students of Angola in Cuba, Agostinho Narciso.<\/p>\n

Among the donated goods, the most important are the non-perishable foodstuffs, medicines and clothing.<\/p>\n

The donation is the result of a campaign carried out from the 12th to the 28th of October under the motto: “help us to help the Cuban people”.<\/p>\n

The official added that during the campaign 232.2 tons of various goods were collected, with 43.77 tons being sent in the first phase, and 21 in the second. In Angola there are 167.43 tons for a new shipment phase.<\/p>\n

Hurricane Ian affected three million inhabitants, including 500,000 Cuban children and 700,000 elderly people, according to United Nations data.<\/p>\n

The Ian had a category 4 history and gained speed with winds of up to 250km\/h, reaching the areas of Pinar del Ri\u0301o, Mayabequ, San Juan y Marti\u0301nez, Guanahacabibes, Isla de Juventude.<\/p>\n
