Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Angolan writer Mwene Vunonogue defended, this Tuesday, in the city of Huambo, the need to adopt assertive policies to combat ethnocentrism in the country.<\/b><\/p>\n

The writer expressed this position on the sidelines of the act of presentation and autograph of his recent literary work entitled “The atongoko of a young leberde”, when he stated that ethnocentrism constitutes a phenomenon with a lot of accentuation in the Angolan reality, because there are peoples who seek to overcome the their culture in relation to that of others.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe live in a context in which ethnocentrism remains established, in some parts of the country, where many people think that they are better than the other, taking into account their culture, a negative practice that has contributed to the failure of the socialization process\u201d, referred.<\/p>\n

Among the various situations, he said, is the case of national languages, in which they end up losing their value compared to Portuguese, a serious violation of the diversity of the cultural mosaic, which is characteristic of the Angolan reality.<\/p>\n

According to the author, because of this, there are even children who suffer from not knowing how to speak Portuguese well.<\/p>\n

For this reason, he considered it fundamental to adopt policies that allow the equalization of cultures in the country, above all, bilingualism, in order to value the majority of national languages.<\/p>\n

He says it is urgent to adopt strategies to combat ethnocentrism in order to minimize its effects in the process of transmitting cultural values \u200b\u200bto new and future generations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to think in the Nation about the need to value national cultures and what we want in terms of socialization policies, judging by the ethnic diversity that characterizes the Angolan people\u201d, he stressed.<\/p>\n

About the book now presented, with 115 chronicles, spread over 267 pages, he said that it addresses the day-to-day experiences observed since his childhood.<\/p>\n

With this work, he said, the aim is to make readers, especially young people, get in touch with his thinking about daily realities and, through reflections around them, be able to draw conclusions.<\/p>\n

The work \u201cOs atongoko de um Jovem Leberde\u201d, which translated into Portuguese means \u201cAs assanhadisses de um Jovem Rebel\u201d, was published last weekend, in the country’s capital (Luanda).<\/p>\n

Mwena Vunongue is the literary pseudonym of Manuel das Mangas, born in Lugango (Hui\u0301la).<\/p>\n

With a degree in education informatics, Mwena Vunongue is also the author of the literary work entitled \u201cMy uncles and their atongoko\u201d, published in 2020.<\/p>\n

In addition to being a writer, Mwena Vunongue is a teacher and civic activist.<\/p>\n
