Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The expansion of the health network in the province of Benguela is among the priorities of the health sector for the year 2023.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the provincial director of Health, Anto\u0301nio Cabinda, who was speaking on the sidelines of the end-of-year greetings ceremony, it is also intended to increase the number of health professionals, as well as to pay special attention to non-transmissible chronic diseases, such as arterial hypertension, diabetes and glaucoma.<\/p>\n

Regarding human resources, Anto\u0301nio Cabinda stated that the staff, at provincial level, is still not enough to cover demand, but that the sector is working to improve in this regard.<\/p>\n

“Currently, we have around seven thousand professionals, against the five thousand registered in 2017”, he said. Also in this chapter, he made it known that the admission of 415 agents of the public tender that is in its final phase is expected.<\/p>\n

“Furthermore, those who tested positive in the previous competition and had not been admitted will have their chance soon”, he stressed.<\/p>\n

Referring to the sector’s gains in the year about to end, the director highlighted the inauguration of two municipal hospitals, namely those in Bai\u0301a Farta and Chongoroi.<\/p>\n

Regarding staff training, he pointed out the admission of new staff in the specialties of general surgery, orthopedics, maxillofacial surgery, anesthesiology, internal medicine and pediatrics.<\/p>\n

As for pre-hospital care, he expressed his satisfaction with receiving an ambulance for each of the ten municipalities in Benguela province.<\/p>\n

Regarding public health, he guaranteed greater control of the major endemic diseases, such as Malaria, Tuberculosis and HIV\/AIDS.<\/p>\n

“Partnerships with the Global Fund are having the desired effects”, clarified the director, adding that there are less floods in hospital units, greater availability of medicines and greater regularity in primary care.<\/p>\n
