Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone (ZEE) was distinguished as the Best Zone on the African Continent in 2022, in the fields of digital, technology and marketing, said in Luanda, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the institution, Anto\u0301nio Henriques da Silva.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the official, who was speaking during a get-together at the end of the year, the prize was awarded by AEZO \u2013 Organization of African Economic Zones (AEZO), during the seventh edition of the annual summit that took place in the Nigerian city of Abuja, on 30 November to December 2 of this year.<\/p>\n

For the CEO of the ZEE, who is unaware of the evaluation criteria, he made it known that this achievement, in general terms, reflects international recognition for the excellence of the performance of all the institution’s employees, where creativity and innovation are fundamental.<\/p>\n

The AEZO award, he underlined, also confirms the course set out by the Board of Directors, in line with the future, in which new technologies and the ability to operate them effectively will be a decisive instrument for achieving results, in an increasingly more competitive and demanding.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis award confirms, moreover, the quality of the path taken throughout the existence of the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone, with projects that generated more than six thousand new jobs, mostly filled by national citizens\u201d, he stressed.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the reduction of imports, the increase of exports and the attraction of foreign investment, despite the international economic crisis, contributed to this desideratum.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that, in the last two years, investment projects from Germany, Eritrea, India, Rwanda, Lebanon and Angola have been implemented.<\/p>\n

The undertakings of the ZEE cover productive sectors such as dairy products, pasta and other foodstuffs (including wheat flour, semolina flour, sausages, biscuits and charcuterie), detergents, clothing, plastic utensils, thermoelectric power stations and electrical devices, steelworks, materials construction and operation of automobile inspection centres.<\/p>\n

The ZEE counts, in 2022, 157 companies, of which 76 are operational, with 13 industrial projects in execution, and an equal number completed, two projects inaugurated and eight awaiting inauguration.<\/p>\n
