Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angola and Gabon signed this Thursday in Libreville, the Gabonese capital, two instruments to strengthen cooperation and ties between the two countries, as part of the visit of the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o.<\/b><\/p>\n

It is a memorandum that allows for bilateral political consultations and an agreement to overcome visas in service and diplomatic passports.<\/p>\n

The two legal instruments were signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Angola and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Gabon, Tete\u0301 Anto\u0301nio and Michael Moussa Adamo, respectively, in a ceremony witnessed by Presidents Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o and Ali Bongo.<\/p>\n

According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tete\u0301 Anto\u0301nio, who was speaking to the press, the first instrument is a framework agreement that covers all domains, paving the way for strengthening cooperation in the most varied sectors.<\/p>\n

Tete\u0301 Anto\u0301nio stressed that during the talks the two presidents exchanged impressions and experiences in the economic field, regional and global issues.<\/p>\n

According to the minister, Gabon also wants to take advantage of Angola’s experience in oil exploration, including refining and management.<\/p>\n

According to Minister Tete\u0301 Anto\u0301nio, the visit had a positive balance, with the agreement to hold a meeting of the bilateral commission until March 2023.<\/p>\n

The two Statesmen also exchanged impressions on regional issues and decided to join synergies, since Angola is committed to conflict resolution in the region and Gabon is a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.<\/p>\n

At the same meeting, areas of cooperation were reinforced and others were also identified. The Gabonese Republic has the fourth largest economy in the sub-region and, like Angola, is investing heavily in the diversification of its economy.<\/p>\n

He added that Angola is interested in the experience of forest exploitation and the agricultural sector. Gabon intends to cooperate with Angola in the field of hydrocarbons.<\/p>\n

This Thursday, the Angolan Head of State visited Gabon for a few hours at the invitation of his counterpart Ali Bongo.<\/p>\n

Cooperation between Angola and Gabon focuses on the sectors of Agriculture, Oil and Mines, Maritime Transport, Industry, Commerce, Education and Culture, Health, Youth and Sports.<\/p>\n

The basis of this partnership is the General Cooperation Agreement. The two countries established the Joint Bilateral Commission in January 1982, in Libreville.<\/p>\n
