Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Street vendors in the city of Caa\u0301la, Huambo province, have had a fruit market, in an initiative of the local authorities, who intend to put an end to the disorganized sale in the streets of the city.<\/b><\/p>\n

Budgeted at seven million Kwanzas, financed by the anti-poverty programme, the project, called \u201cUniverso de Frutas\u201d, aims to prevent the existence of counters selling, mainly, fruit, under buildings and around public institutions , within the scope of the organizational strategy of the city of Caa\u0301la, in the municipality with the same name.<\/p>\n

Implemented in the vicinity of Largo 08 de Janeiro, in the center of the city of Caa\u0301la, the market has the capacity to house, in a first phase, more than 20 sellers, as the disorderly sale on sidewalks and verges constitutes, in addition to administrative transgression, a danger to merchants and pedestrians.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the administrator of the municipality of Caa\u0301la, Ruben Isai\u0301as Etome, said that the infrastructure resulting from an orientation given by the governor of Huambo province, Lotti Nolika, will reduce the risks that citizens were likely to face, in addition to embarrassing road traffic.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf previously teenagers and women used to sell on the sidewalks, they have the opportunity to install themselves in a safe and well-lit area, which will allow them to sell until late hours\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Therefore, the municipal manager encourages salespeople to invest in the academic and technical-professional training of their children, in order to build a better future.<\/p>\n

In the municipality of Caa\u0301la, one of the 11 that make up the province of Huambo, there are six official open-air markets, where almost everything is sold, from agricultural and livestock products to industrialized products.<\/p>\n

Some sellers were satisfied with the initiative of the local authorities, as the start of the fruit market will not only help organize the city, but also ensure greater safety for sellers, buyers, pedestrians and even motorists. .<\/p>\n

With four communes (Calenga, Catata, Cuima and Sede), the municipality of Caa\u0301la has an estimated population of 366 thousand 480 inhabitants, a household composed mainly of five people on average and a birth rate stipulated at 3.5 percent in each year, according to recent data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE).<\/p>\n
