Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Governor of Bie\u0301, Pereira Alfredo, announced that in 2023 the construction of the first electricity transmission line between the cities of Cuito and Camacupa would begin, as part of the Executive Electrification Programme.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the end-of-year greeting ceremony, the official said that the start of construction on this line will coincide with the conclusion of works on the hydroelectric plant in Camacupa, on the Cunje I river, scheduled for the first half of 2023.<\/p>\n

The Camacupa hydroelectric plant will have an installed capacity of 1.8 MW, which could benefit more than three thousand families.<\/p>\n

The Government is also planning to build two energy transport lines between the municipalities of Cachiungo (Huambo) and Chinguar (Bie\u0301), as well as between the municipal headquarters of Cuito, Andulo and Nharea.<\/p>\n

Without advancing the value of the project, he revealed that the construction of these electric current transport lines, produced from the Hidroele\u0301ctrica de Lau\u0301ca dam, will attract private investment to the interior, which will contribute to improving the living conditions of the population.<\/p>\n

Still in the field of energy, he recalled, this year six neighborhoods on the outskirts of the city of Cuito (Bie\u0301) gained residential connections and public lighting, contributing to the improvement of public safety at night.<\/p>\n

With the construction of the medium and low voltage network, more than 3,000 families benefited from electricity in the municipality of Andulo, 1,500 in Nhare\u0302a, 1,000 in Cuemba and 900 families in Chitembo.<\/p>\n

Pereira Alfredo also praised the effects of the PIIM in the province, where 226 projects and actions were registered, of which 137 were delivered to the population and 58 projects underway in various municipalities of the province, in the areas of education, health, asphalting and earthworks on roads, among others.<\/p>\n

With a view to combating hunger and poverty within families, the local Government, he reaffirmed, will continue to invest in agriculture, where this year (2022) 275 thousand 457.8 hectares of arable land were cultivated, with a forecast of harvesting 541 thousand 526.6 tons of various products, with greater emphasis on corn, beans, cassava, various vegetables, tubers and roots.<\/p>\n
