Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Alcaal group, manager of Textang II – Indu\u0301stria Te\u0302xtil de Angola, intends to produce, annually, 11 million meters of fabric per year, an average of 916 thousand meters per month, and, thus, to be a reference in Africa, he said. the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Jorge Amaral.<\/b><\/p>\n

Jorge Amaral said that Textang II produces only 200,000 meters of fabric per month, a limit that will be exceeded with the implementation of a second production shift, to guarantee more quantities of fabric.<\/p>\n

He explained that with the second shift the group intends, in 45 days, to double the factory’s production capacity to ensure that, before the end of the current year, the maximum capacity is in the field of production as well as in the workforce.<\/p>\n

At this time, Textang II has 250 employees, of which seven are expatriates. The company is undergoing a restructuring process and has already invested nine million dollars in this process.<\/p>\n

By the end of the year and with the second shift in operation, the factory should have 450 employees to operate the equipment 24 hours a day. \u201cThis number is an added value for the group, since, when the factory reopened, only 13 expatriates worked, but today the number has dropped to seven, with the other five having been replaced by national staff, he explained.<\/p>\n

He also informed that with the restructuring process, the equipment and areas that presented technical problems such as rainwater structures, tertiary streets adjacent to the factory and other infrastructures that allow full operation, were 100 percent repaired, which results in good performance. of industrial activity.<\/p>\n

According to the interlocutor, Textang is being prepared to produce more refined and quality fabrics, which can guarantee the Alcaal Group to operate in the export segment.<\/p>\n

For this export perspective, Jorge Amaral clarified that negotiations are underway with some factories in the branch in Italy and Spain, in which the perspectives are favorable. “We are optimistic that, in 60 or 90 days, we will be able to export our fabrics to the Italian and Spanish markets”, he stressed.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that there are many industries interested in learning about African cotton and fabric, thinking about the creation of jobs in Africa and the sustainability of the original product in Europe. \u201cWe have to start exporting Textang II fabrics, because there are technologies and conditions to produce more sophisticated fabrics, with quality and on scale\u201d, said an interlocutor.<\/p>\n

Cotton production<\/b><\/p>\n

The first cotton plantation, which can guarantee greater fabric productivity at Textang II, will be harvested in July 2023, in a first phase, in an area of \u200b\u200b100 hectares, guaranteed the PCA of the Alcaal Group.<\/p>\n

In terms of harvesting, at this stage which is expected to be experimental, he said, the group is selecting the seeds that should ensure the planting of another 3,000 hectares next year.<\/p>\n

As for the farms that guarantee production, Jorge Amaral referred only to the 15,000-hectare area centered in Baixa de Cassanje, in Malanje province, a region with excellent climatic conditions for growing cotton.<\/p>\n

In the three production projects defined by the Alcaal Group, 200 people are involved, who intend to make a decisive contribution to Angola’s food self-sufficiency, especially in the production of basic goods.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn total, there are 25 thousand hectares that are being cultivated gradually. We intend that, four years from now, the 25,000 hectares will be fully utilized\u201d, envisioned Jorge Amaral.<\/p>\n

The company’s objective, according to the official, is to become self-sufficient in cotton produced in Angola and, with this production, make this wish come true in three years, because in addition to cotton production, the intention is to combine it with agriculture scale, involving thousands of small peasants from Baixa de Cassanje.<\/p>\n

For the projects, in a first phase, 100 peasants have already been selected, who should guarantee the income that Textang II needs, in order to stimulate the manufacturing area.<\/p>\n

The Alcaal group is a company incorporated under Angolan law linked to the agro-industry and textile industry, which intends to be a leader in Angola’s agro-industrial production and make Textang II an emblem of the national industry.<\/p>\n

It has investments in the Kizenga Farm, dedicated to the production of corn flour, in the Longa Farm, with the relaunch of rice production, and in the Coimba Farm.<\/p>\n

“At this point, three shifts, 24\/24 hours, 10 million meters of fabrics on the street is Textang’s top priority.” Two hundred and 50 Workers for 500 in three shifts is a natural thing, because we need it and it means that these cadres exist in a way that we have no problem with this and we are very comfortable with this decision\u201d he predicted.<\/p>\n

In turn, Isai\u0301as Camavo (28 years old) lives with a partner and has a son, has been an employee for four years, says it’s good to work for the factory. He sees a good restructuring that brings them to a successful conclusion.<\/p>\n

As for the salary, said the interviewee, it is good now, as she used to earn 18 thousand kwanzas, but it increased two to three times more, said another interlocutor, Carlota de Brito (33 years old) single, mother of three children, machine operator since 2016 .<\/p>\n

Claiming that there is a change and he is better in terms of remuneration, because before he earned 18 thousand kwanzas and today he has a salary that meets his expenses.<\/p>\n

For the weaving coordinator, Anacleto Manuel (34 years old), father of two, Textang is giving him the greatest opportunity of his life. \u201cIn terms of restructuring, we are on a good path\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe country was very weak in the textile sector, knowing that we have three industries with potential and the privatization of the Executive made it much better. We are practically carrying out the development that the customer needs for the national and international market\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

As for the worker Mile\u0301sio Jose\u0301 (34 years old), coordinator of one of the departments, the salary compensates for his expenses, he said.<\/p>\n

He also referred that one of the important things is to know that the company’s restructuring act was accompanied by modern equipment, and all this modernization allows fabrics to be made that are exactly within the standard that developed countries make.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, we are able to compete on an equal footing, and that gives us a responsibility to produce a product with higher quality\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Textang II, located in the municipality of Cazenga, in Luanda, was one of the State assets taken to privatization, within the scope of the Program for the Privatization of State Participations and Assets, which started in 2019.<\/p>\n
