Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Forty inmates, members of the Armed Forces of Angola (FAA) and the National Police (PN), were set free, this Monday, in the city of Lubango (Hui\u0301la), benefiting from the Amnesty Law.<\/b><\/p>\n

The 40 amnestied served sentences of less than eight years in prison for committing military crimes in their units.<\/p>\n

The release declaration was read by the presiding judge of the Military Court of the Southern Region, Colonel Ernesto Bento.<\/p>\n

In the message of the pardon beneficiaries, Fernando Joa\u0303o thanked the gesture and apologized for the inconvenience they created in their units, from the violation of the law on military crimes and the void left in the bosom of colleagues and families.<\/p>\n

“Crime does not pay, from now on we will adopt a healthy conduct, comply and enforce the orders of the unit commanders, rescue moral and civic values, be a good soldier before Angolan society”, he said.<\/p>\n

In turn, the second in command of the Southern Military Region, Brigadier Jose\u0301 Paulino, stressed that it was an opportunity for those contemplated, which should serve to change their attitude and behavior, giving their best in building their work.<\/p>\n

He continued that with this law, you have an opportunity for social and family reintegration, an opportunity that each one must take advantage of to put their hand on their conscience and change so as not to compromise the effort and forgiveness they deserve.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom now on, you must avoid bad ways and influences and guide yourself by a dignified conduct because the place of each one of you is with the families and not in jails\u201d, he reinforced.<\/p>\n

The Amnesty Law, approved on December 15 of the current year by the National Assembly, forgives all common crimes with prison sentences of up to eight years, committed by national or foreign citizens in the period between November 12, 2015 and November 11, 2022.<\/p>\n

Military crimes punishable with prison sentences of up to eight years will also be amnestied, except for intentional crimes committed with violence that resulted in death.<\/p>\n

The agents of crimes not covered by the Law in question and who have been convicted by a final and unappealable decision will have their sentences pardoned in 1\/4.<\/p>\n

The Law excludes, among others, intentional crimes committed with violence, money laundering, corruption and embezzlement, trafficking in people and arms and aiding illegal immigration.<\/p>\n

The Diploma, which was part of the celebrations of the 47th anniversary of National Independence, aims to ensure that this commemorative act is reflected in the established social order, without excluding citizens deprived of liberty, granting them new political, social and social reintegration opportunities and familiar.<\/p>\n
