Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio, received, Wednesday, in Luanda, the resident coordinator of the United Nations in Angola, Zahira Virani, with whom he addressed issues related to the strengthening of relations between the Angolan State and the UN.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to a note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting also served for the two entities to address Angolan candidacies for various vacancies within the United Nations System and administrative issues of the Organisation.<\/p>\n

Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio recently defended a greater insertion of Angolan staff in the United Nations System, more dissemination of the country and a greater interventionist presence in international organizations.<\/p>\n

The head of Angolan diplomacy insisted, on the occasion, that the process of inserting Angolan staff in international institutions, which had been started for a long time, must continue, considering that it is through this path that the country will be able to make itself heard more.<\/p>\n

Cooperation with Zambia<\/b><\/p>\n

Angola and Zambia analyzed, Wednesday, in Lusaka, the deepening of bilateral cooperation relations in the most varied domains, mainly in the Diplomatic, Political, Economic and Commercial areas.<\/p>\n

The meeting between the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Angola in Zambia, Azevedo Xavier Francisco, and the permanent secretary of the Zambian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Isabelle Mutinta Matyola-Lemba, analyzed the possibility of visits at the highest level, says a note from the Angolan Embassy in Lusaka.<\/p>\n

Angola and Zambia signed cooperation agreements in the fields of Cross-border Rail and River Transport. These agreements aim to establish rules, methodologies and procedures for the movement of people and goods across the extensive common border.<\/p>\n

The two countries also signed a cooperation agreement in the Oil and Gas area, which may have as one of its main goals the construction of the Angola-Zambia Oil Pipeline (AZOP), an oil pipeline that will connect the Lobito Refinery (Angola ) to the city of Lusaka, capital of Zambia.<\/p>\n

Relations between Angola and Zambia date back more than 40 years and the two States share a common border and enjoy excellent friendly and cooperative relations, including at the level of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), covering the areas Political-Diplomatics, Defense and Security, Transport, Education, Health, Agriculture, Geology and Mines, among others.<\/p>\n
