Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The provincial governor of Malanje, Marcos Nhunga, announced Thursday, the implementation, in 2023, of projects to encourage the breeding of poultry, pigs and small ruminants, to make the province self-sufficient, especially in the production of eggs and pork.<\/b><\/p>\n

To this end, the government will deliver chickens, pigs and small ruminants to families, especially ex-soldiers, who will only be responsible for creating model poultry houses, pigsties and pens.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the year-end greetings ceremony, the government official said that incentives for families to produce animal protein are also in the pipeline.<\/p>\n

The official explained that these are one of the paths to be taken to fight poverty in the region and empower vulnerable families.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, he pointed out the expansion of cotton and rice cultivation areas as another bet for 2023, taking into account the importance of these crops for the development of the province, without neglecting the increase in fruit growing, with a view to contributing to the improvement of the diet. households and increase their incomes.<\/p>\n

He recognized that 2022 was a reasonable year for the national economy, but, despite the constraints, the Executive took measures that will allow, in a short period, to change the lives of the populations.<\/p>\n

He cited, as an example, the resumption of cotton cultivation in the Baixa de Cassanje region, 36 years after its suspension, having allowed, in a first phase, the production of 15 tons in an area of \u200b\u200b30 hectares, with the involvement of 50 family farmers.<\/p>\n

He also underlined the financing of 11 local agricultural initiatives by the Project for the Development of Commercial Agriculture (PDAC), which allowed the increase in grain production in the province, at a time when 16 business plans are awaiting disbursement from the bank.<\/p>\n

Another highlight was the reactivation of the Pungo Andongo, Pedras Negras and Quizenga farms, already privatized under the Privatization Program (PROPRIV), with the prospect of increasing grain production in the province.<\/p>\n
