Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, held a telephone conversation, this afternoon, with his counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Fe\u0301lix Tshisekedi, about the pacification of the east of this country.<\/b><\/p>\n

The two Statesmen spoke specifically about the implementation of the decisions of the recent mini-summit in Washington, which defines the creation of conditions for the achievement of the objectives set by the Roadmap of Luanda.<\/p>\n

The Roadmap for Luanda results from the regional mini-summit, held in November in the Angolan capital, which adopted an Action Plan for peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the normalization of relations between this country and Rwanda.<\/p>\n

The initiative included the heads of state (or their representatives) of Angola, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, from Burundi, E\u0301variste Ndayishimiye, from the DRC, Fe\u0301lix Antoine Tshisekedi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Rwanda, Vincent Biruta, as well as the former Kenyan president, Uhuru Kenyatta, the latter who participated as a peace facilitator for the east of the DRC, designated by the Community of East African States (EAC).<\/p>\n

The meeting was convened by President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, in his capacity as the African Union (AU) mediator, to look for ways to resolve the prevailing crisis on the border between DRC and Rwanda.<\/p>\n
