Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angolan engineer Jose\u0301 Gualberto Matos defended the creation, in Angola, of a lower social tariff, in the field of telecommunications, which would allow less favored citizens to access the internet.<\/b><\/p>\n

Jose\u0301 Gualberto Matos justified that a social tariff would make it easier for low-income people to access the internet, as well as promoting people’s education and improving their quality of life.<\/p>\n

According to the engineer, who was speaking to press on issues related to telecommunications, this matter on social tariff also applies in rich countries, and the difference consists only in the way of implementation.<\/p>\n

Although it is not yet a reality in the country, Jose\u0301 Gualberto Matos believes that the Angolan State will adopt a social tariff policy to facilitate access to the internet.<\/p>\n

With easy access to the internet, argued the source, digitization is facilitated – that is, the State, other institutions and citizens will be able to interact in the practice of acts, provision and obtaining of services via online.<\/p>\n

Currently, the lowest price for internet access in Angola is 100 kwanzas (about two dollars). The acquirer can only use the service at this cost within 24 hours.<\/p>\n

More than a dozen companies are licensed as internet providers in the country, including ITA, Movicel, Unitel, Africell, Angola Telecom, Net One, One Web, TV Cabo, PC Medics Space X Radnet VPN, Tsolnet, Businesscom Networks , Quantiles and TS2 Space.<\/p>\n

Of the more than 33 million inhabitants in Angola, only around 8.7 million are internet users, according to the latest data from the Angolan Institute of Communications (INACOM). This means that only 27 out of 100 people use the internet.<\/p>\n

Angola entered the map of countries with Internet connection in the world in 1996, with the company EBONet.<\/p>\n
