Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The year 2022 was marked by the deaths of politicians, soldiers, diplomats, singers, former athletes and hundreds of thousands of Angolans.<\/b><\/p>\n

In July, the death of the former President of the Republic, Jose\u0301 Eduardo dos Santos, moved the country.<\/p>\n

The former Angolan Head of State, aged 79, died on Friday (8) in Barcelona, \u200b\u200bin a hospital unit where he had been hospitalized since 23 June.<\/p>\n

Due to the tragic event, President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o decreed seven days of national mourning.<\/p>\n

In December, death “knocked at the door” of the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Assunc\u0327a\u0303o Afonso de Sousa dos Anjos.<\/p>\n

The former head of Angolan diplomacy died in Madrid, Kingdom of Spain, victim of a heart attack.<\/p>\n

Also due to illness, the ambassador and nationalist Lui\u0301s Neto “Kiambata” died on the 20th of August.<\/p>\n

Born in Luanda, Lui\u0301s Neto “Kiambata”, 75 years old, was Angola’s ambassador to Zambia and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n

In addition to them, General Abreu Muhengo “Kamorteiro”, the commander of the Angolan Navy, General Jorge Manuel dos Santos “Sukissa” and deputy Ami\u0301lcar Campos Colela (UNITA) also lost their lives.<\/p>\n

General Abreu Muhengo “Kamorteiro”, stands out for having been one of the co-signers of the peace agreements between the government and UNITA, in 2002.<\/p>\n

General “Sukissa”, on the other hand, stood out in his roles as commander of the 1st Region of the Angolan Border Guard Troops (TGFA) and as delegate and commander of the National Police in Huambo.<\/p>\n

As for Ami\u0301lcar Campos Colela, he was notable for his performance in the Specialized Working Committee on Economy and Finance, of the National Assembly.<\/p>\n

Lambas grill<\/p>\n

In November, the death of the Angolan kudurist, Nagrelha, from Lambas, aged 36, victim of lung cancer, shocked the country.<\/p>\n

Nagrelha died on 18 November, at the Hospital Complex for Cardio-Pulmonary Diseases, Cardinal Dom Alexandre do Nascimento, in Luanda.<\/p>\n

Kudurist Gelson Caio Mendes Nagrelha, considered the \u201cGeneral Staff of Kuduro\u201d, was known for his unmistakable voice and stood out for his great popularity.<\/p>\n

Still in the field of music, the country lost, throughout the year, figures such as guitarist Anselmo de Sousa Arcanjo \u201cMarito\u201d, from the musical group Kiezos, as well as musician and producer Leonel Dimbulukeny “Leokeny”.<\/p>\n

The art universe also lost, in 2022, comedian and video producer Edson Quituto.<\/p>\n

After several speculations regarding his death, relatives of the deceased confirmed the existence of some records that pointed to the possibility of having committed suicide.<\/p>\n

Angola also lost agronomist and politician Gilberto Buta Lutucuta, former Minister of Agriculture, who died, aged 80, in February.<\/p>\n

In sport, 2022 was marked by the deaths of former Angolan boxer Pedro Filomeno \u201cDe Vasco\u201d, former handball player Elisa Perez, chess player Francisco Flora and former footballer Jaime Chimalanga.<\/p>\n

The sport also lost its basketball champion, Joaquim da Silva “Quinzinho”, former basketball player Francisco Cabinda and basketball player Michel Santos.<\/p>\n
