Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>One hundred and 34 vulnerable families in the municipality of Curoca, province of Cunene, benefited, in 2022, from goats, within the scope of the Productive Inclusion component of the Program for Strengthening Social Protection of Social Monetary Transfers (Kweanda).<\/b><\/p>\n

This information was provided yesterday to press by the director of the Local Development Fund (FAS), Eduardo Chilunda, and, on the occasion, he said that the process, started in September, aims to encourage animal restocking projects for peasant families, with a focus on expanding of livestock activity.<\/p>\n

In this regard, he said that a total of 603 goats were delivered and each family received nine, eight goats and one goat, in order to reinforce livestock initiatives, to raise the levels of self-sustainability of rural communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe objective is to create a revolving fund in the communities, where the animals, after breeding, are given to other families, except for the young, to continue with the \u201cAnimal Fostering\u201d project, allowing several citizens to have sources of income\u201d, stated.<\/p>\n

The official said that families from the communes of Onco\u0301cua and Chitado were benefited, with the aim of promoting and restoring livestock in this municipality with acceptable potential.<\/p>\n

He said it was advantageous for beneficiaries who have a tradition of raising goats, as these animals are considered easy to reproduce and are not demanding in terms of pasture.<\/p>\n

KWENDA is an Angolan Executive program that aims to create policies to support the most vulnerable families in poverty in the country.<\/p>\n

The Local Development Fund (FAS) is the body responsible for implementing the program, which lasts for three years.<\/p>\n

Valued at US$420 million, the program is funded by the World Bank with US$320 million, with the other US$100 million coming from the National Treasury.<\/p>\n

The project covers four components linked to monetary social transfers, productive inclusion, municipalization of social action and, finally, the reinforcement of the single social register.<\/p>\n
