Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Employees of the National Air Navigation Company (ENNA) started, as of 00:00 Wednesday (4), an indefinite strike.<\/b><\/p>\n

At issue is an alleged “widespread dissatisfaction with the workers’ claims”, presented in a claim booklet to the company’s Board of Directors, on May 23, 2022.<\/p>\n

The decision was taken at a meeting held on December 28, 2022, according to the Independent National Union of Aeronautical and Airport Workers (SNITAA).<\/p>\n

According to the trade union body, this is a “way to guarantee the satisfaction of the claimed points”.<\/p>\n

“The strike covers all categories of the operational areas of the Communication, Navigation and Surveillance Services (CNS), the Aeronautical Information Services (AIS), as well as the technical, administrative and management support services of ENNA at national level”, clarifies the statement.<\/p>\n

To this end, the union sent a Declaration of Strike to ENNA informing that it aims to “stop the work usually carried out, as a way of guaranteeing the satisfaction of the legitimate claims contained in the Claims Book, relating to social, work and economic conditions of the workers”.<\/p>\n

In reaction, the Board of Directors of ENNA \u2013 EP considers the grounds of the Strike Declaration to be unfounded, given that the negotiation process between the parties took place under the mediation of the General Labor Inspectorate (IGT) and resulted in an agreement signed on 11 August 2022, in the fulfillment phase.<\/p>\n

Even so, he informs, on 1 November last year, the Board of SNITAA requested, by letter, the immediate resumption of negotiations within a period of five days after submission of the document, under penalty of declaring the strike.<\/p>\n

In response, ENNA invited SNITAA to a review meeting on the degree of compliance with the agreement, which did not take place, because the unionists refused to meet with a group of directors mandated by the Board of Directors, allegedly because they did not have the competence to do so.<\/p>\n

“However, it is important to emphasize that, despite the Strike Declaration not complying with the assumptions established by law, ENNA’s Board of Directors appeals to common sense, as it has always favored dialogue and shown interest in seeing its employees’ problems resolved” , says a statement from the institution.<\/p>\n
