Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The director of the Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports office in Huambo, Jeremias Piedade Chissanga, defended, this Saturday, society’s involvement in the transmission of cultural values \u200b\u200band symbols, with a focus on preserving national unity.<\/b><\/p>\n

The official, who was speaking at the provincial act in advance of the National Day of Culture, which is celebrated this Sunday (08), under the motto “Culture strengthens the Nation, more culture more Angola”, stressed that everyone is called to contribute in this task of social and political nature, with a spirit of patriotism.<\/p>\n

He said that the people of Angola and Huambo, in particular, have a national identity characterized by their artistic, linguistic and cultural diversity, which must be passed on from generation to generation, despite globalisation.<\/p>\n

Jeremias Piedade Chissanga said that it is essential to combine efforts from all the living forces of society, starting with the family, so that children learn languages, arts, dances, among other values, that characterize the national culture from an early age.<\/p>\n

The official highlighted the holding of fairs, lectures and debates, as one of the actions that have promoted, preserved and rescued cultural values.<\/p>\n

To culture makers, Jeremias Piedade Chissanga, called for resilience and engagement, with a focus on preserving national identity and rescuing cultural values.<\/p>\n

He said that the sector’s problems have been identified, with emphasis on the lack of sponsorship and the lack of spaces to promote activities, but, despite this situation, it is necessary to continue working in favor of national and local culture.<\/p>\n

Regarding the lack of concert halls in the province, Jeremias Piedade Chissanga assured that, in the near future, the situation will be overcome with the completion of works on the Cultural Center of the city of Huambo.<\/p>\n

Historian Venceslau Cassesse, in turn, praised the engagement of the local Culture office in promoting actions aimed at rescuing cultural identity, which also includes respect for national and spiritual symbols and the reinforcement of love for others.<\/p>\n

Craftsman Kamba Lyoutima, on the other hand, called for the appreciation of national artists who are experiencing many difficulties linked to access to finance, material and moral support.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to create concrete policies to support art makers, to better join the efforts to rescue the national identity\u201d, the artist.<\/p>\n

Joaquina Ngueve, cultural entrepreneur, lamented the weak adherence of local citizens, in particular, in the purchase of sculpture products, due to taboos and devaluation of national culture.<\/p>\n

\u201c Our products, most of the time, are bought by foreigners who are enchanted by the paintings painted in the warm colors of Africa, in addition to the sculptures of rhinos, elephants, the giant sable and the thinker, made with local wood , works that, unfortunately, many Angolans do not value\u201d, he emphasized.<\/p>\n
