Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The turnover between Angola and Zambia, in the last five years, is around US$18.5 million, announced this Tuesday, in Luanda, the Zambian minister of Commerce and Industry, Chipoka Mulenga.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the minister, who was speaking at the Angola and Zambia Business Forum, his country exported US$14.5 million to Angola.<\/p>\n

He added that during the period in question, Angola exported US$4 million to Zambia, well below the reality of the two countries, when compared to their potential.<\/p>\n

The lack of road and rail infrastructure links was the basis of the trade balance deficit between the two countries, a situation made worse by the absence of markets at border posts.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Commerce and Industry of Angola, Victor Fernandes, reaffirmed that “it is necessary to go beyond the existing potential and start taking advantage of the existing opportunities, in order to achieve tangible results”.<\/p>\n

In this way, it challenged the private sector to play, increasingly better, the role of investment promoter, in order to achieve the established goals.<\/p>\n

“Each one of us has a role to play in changing the current state of things”, he appealed.<\/p>\n

The Angola and Zambia Business Forum, held by the Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX), in partnership with the Development Agency (ZDA) of Zambia, took place under the motto “Business opportunities and new private partnerships to strengthen bilateral cooperation”.<\/p>\n

The event, in which Zambian and Angolan businessmen took part, aimed at strengthening new partnerships between businessmen from both countries, in the most diverse sectors, as well as strengthening ties between the two similar institutions (AIPEX and ZDA).<\/p>\n
