Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Secretary of State for the Civil Aviation, Maritime and Port sectors, Emilio Vumpa Londe, highlighted yesterday that the Port of Namibe has a strategic function in the country’s economy, standing out in the export of granite.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the official who spoke moments after visiting the works of the third phase of this imposing undertaking, the government pays special attention to the Port of Namibe.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that one of the benefits of this Port is the export of various products to different countries, with granite being one of the most exported ores and which has allowed the collection of revenue for the State coffers.<\/p>\n

During the visit, the Secretary of State inspected the works of the third phase, which aim to extend the terminal at Porto Namibe, allowing, after its completion, scheduled for within 36 months, to increase production.<\/p>\n

The creation of conditions is foreseen to promote the development of the southern region of the country, specifically in imports and exports of various products.<\/p>\n

The representative of TOYOTA, the Japanese Schiro Kashtani, sponsor of the port development, reaffirmed that the rehabilitation of the Port will be completed within 36 months.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe noticed a growth where in the future we will have a sophisticated cargo terminal and in the sea bag the works are also at a good pace, which will allow the export of iron with more security\u201d, said the TOYOTA representative.<\/p>\n

Financed by the Toyota Tsuho Corporation, the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Japanese commercial banks and the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) for around US$600 million, its construction will facilitate cooperation with the states of the Commonwealth of Southern Africa (SADC).<\/p>\n

The work on the container terminal at the Port of Namibe will also allow for a modern infrastructure equipped with the means to improve the efficiency of the port operation and increase the competitiveness of the enterprise in the future.<\/p>\n

The project, which began in 2021, also includes the rehabilitation of the Saco-Mar Mining Terminal, eight kilometers north of the city of Namibe, in the northern area of \u200b\u200bMoc\u0327a\u0302medes Bay, as well as a maritime protection barrier, to the north from the mouth of the Bero River.<\/p>\n

The Minaraleiro do Saco-Mar terminal is part of the jurisdiction of Porto do Namibe, whose area is limited, to the north by the Ponte do Girau\u0301l lighthouse, and to the south, by the Ponte do Pau Sul (Ponta do Noronha), encompassing two infrastructures. -port structures with different functionalities.<\/p>\n
