Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>At least 53 percent of women victims of domestic violence in the country do not report the cases, for fear of mistreatment by the aggressors and lack of trust in the institutions that prevent or combat such practices.<\/b><\/p>\n

These data were presented last Thursday by the director of the Mosaiko Association, Friar J\u00falio Candeeiro, when he referred to a study carried out by the institution in 15 municipalities in the provinces of Luanda, U\u00edge, Benguela, Huambo and Hu\u00edla.<\/p>\n

The results of the study carried out between 2019 and 2020, were presented at a hearing that the Minister of the Interior, Eug\u00e9nio Laborinho, granted to those responsible for the Mosaiko Association, determined that the lack of a culture of denunciation is motivated by social, religious and political issues.<\/p>\n

Friar J\u00falio Candeeiro encouraged families to gather the courage to report cases of domestic violence. For this, it is necessary to combat the silence of victims, especially women.<\/p>\n

Mosaiko, an institute for citizenship, is an Angolan non-profit organization that aims to contribute to a culture of human rights in Angola.<\/p>\n

At the hearing, Minister Eug\u00e9nio Laborinho stressed that Mosaiko is a social partner, within the framework of the implementation of policies that promote the exercise of citizenship and the rescue of moral and civic values.<\/p>\n
