Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The provincial secretary of the FNLA in Zaire province, Anto\u0301nio Nginamau, defended this Thursday, in Mbanza Kongo, the construction of a monument to honor the historic leader and founder of this party, A\u0301lvaro Holden Roberto.<\/b><\/p>\n

The politician expressed this intention when he intervened in the act that marked the celebration of the centenary of Holden Roberto, born on 12 January 1923, in the city of Mbanza Kongo, province of Zaire.<\/p>\n

According to the leader, the construction of a historic monument, mainly in the city of Mbanza Kongo, where her remains lie, aims to honor and perpetuate the figure of this person who was one of the forerunners of the Armed Struggle for National Liberation against Portuguese colonialism.<\/p>\n

In turn, the national secretary for electoral affairs of the FNLA, Jose\u0301 Makendelwa, the current generation knows little or nothing about the figure of Holden Roberto, so the building of a monument would project more the image of this Angolan nationalist.<\/p>\n

For him, Holden’s legacy should serve as an example for young people \u201cconvinced, patriotic and uninterested in material goods\u201d.<\/p>\n

The program for celebrating the centenary of Holden Roberto, who died on 2 August 2007, was also marked by the laying of a wreath on his tomb and a march that went through the main arteries of the city of Mbanza Kongo.<\/p>\n

He also entered a lecture that portrayed the life and work of Holden Roberto.<\/p>\n
