Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>On the sidelines of the presentation ceremony of New Year’s greetings to the Maltese Head of State, Jorge Vella, the Republics of Angola and Malta analyzed the possibility of intensifying cooperation between the institutions of the two countries, especially those linked to the maritime space.<\/b><\/p>\n

These intentions were expressed at the end of a meeting between the non-resident ambassador of Angola in Malta, Maria de Fa\u0301tima Jardim, and the director of the International Maritime Institute, Norman Gutierrez, during the visit to that European country.<\/p>\n

In a communique\u0301 released on Sunday, the Embassy refers that a framework of activities has been defined for consolidating the signing of a memorandum with the International Maritime Institute, as well as attracting funding for Angolan scholarship holders to enroll in courses taught at the institution, possible exchange of information between the two countries in the Higher Education and Research sectors.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, on Friday, the need to prepare and encourage visits as part of the deepening of relations between the two countries was also addressed.<\/p>\n

The International Institute of Law of the Sea has existed for 34 years and since its creation it has been one of the few in the world dedicated to training in the Law of the Sea from an international point of view and not as a national matter like other similar ones. It has a close relationship with the International Maritime Organization and is focused on implementing conventions related to various areas such as maritime safety, transport, research and specialized domains of the sea.<\/p>\n

Also during the visit to Malta, Fa\u0301tima Jardim and other ambassadors accredited to that country presented New Year greetings to the local Prime Minister, Robert Abela, and participated in the dinner offered by the Maltese Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Ian Borg.<\/p>\n

The ambassador also held meetings with the Maltese Minister of Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation, Clifton Grima, and with the Director of External Relations and Mediterranean Affairs, Claude Bonello, with whom she addressed issues of bilateral interest.<\/p>\n
