Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Yetwene mining project, prospecting for which is in the final stage, plans to produce 3,000 carats of diamonds per month, starting this year.<\/b><\/p>\n

The project, whose effective start-up is scheduled for this financial year, is located in the commune of Camissombo, municipality of Lucapa, province of Lunda Norte, is undergoing recovery and with a new operator and investor, in partnership with Endiama, after after a long stoppage since 2009, when the last production was verified.<\/p>\n

In 2019, the project received a license to start prospecting activity, in a concession of 508 square kilometers.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, the acting director of the project’s Mining Operations, Pedro Domingos, explained that the actions to reassess the reserves, following the implementation of a geological study, showed the existence of nine proven blocks.<\/p>\n

He made it known that activities are currently centered on completing the geological report to be sent to Endiama, with a view to starting diamond exploration.<\/p>\n

He assured that the nine blocks of the mine are evaluated in terms of potential with a margin of 966,000 carats from an area called “Frente Chicapa”, including another with the designation of “Lumanha” where, in turn, it is planned to make a new revaluation.<\/p>\n

The average production of three thousand carats of diamonds per month results from the fact that two service shifts were initially stipulated.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, he said that due to the investments being made, the future challenges are focused on the company’s growth, increasing production from three to 20 thousand carats of diamonds\/month.<\/p>\n

The Yetwene Mining Project currently has two washrooms, 202 workers, including 14 expatriates.<\/p>\n
