Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The chairman of the General Tax Administration Council, Jose\u0301 Leiria, said on Tuesday that if there is a need to make adjustments in terms of the Labor Income Tax (IRT), the same should also be done in terms of expenses.<\/b><\/p>\n

The issue of the IRT was once again raised by deputies of the 5th Commission on Economy and Finance, which is holding a meeting with heads of some ministerial departments, within the framework of the discussion of the OGE 2023 in the specialty.<\/p>\n

“These are adjustments that this magna casa will certainly have to analyse, consider and take the decisions it deems appropriate”, he pointed out, considering the National Assembly the most suitable place to discuss the issue of the IRT.<\/p>\n

When answering the questions posed, he made it known that VAT, Industrial Tax and IRT are the three non-oil taxes that raise the most revenue for the State coffers.<\/p>\n

The latest data published by AGT, referring to September, show the collection of 909.4 billion kwanzas via VAT, 818.2 billion kwanzas of industrial tax and 600 billion kwanzas IRT discount.<\/p>\n

Thus, analyzes will have to be carried out between the collection that this tax generates for the State coffers and the constant complaints filed by a majority of workers.<\/p>\n

In the context of the international context, he said that the IRT in Angola is below the average of the SADC Region.<\/p>\n

The maximum IRT rate in Angola is 25%, while the maximum IRT rate in the region is 40%.<\/p>\n

He recalled that, within the framework of the changes made at the IRT headquarters, the same comes to relieve and relieve the lowest incomes, that is, up to 70 thousand kwanzas are exempt.<\/p>\n

Income of up to 230,000 kwanzas maintains the same tax burden compared to the previous table.<\/p>\n
