Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, appointed Friday, Aviation General Altino Carlos Jose\u0301 dos Santos to the position of Chief of General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a previous decree, the Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) dismissed General Altino Carlos Jose\u0301 dos Santos as commander of the National Air Force (FAN).<\/p>\n

Altino dos Santos replaces Army General Anto\u0301nio Egi\u0301dio de Sousa e Santos, exonerated yesterday by the President of the Republic, within the scope of his constitutional prerogatives and after hearing the National Security Council.<\/p>\n

According to a note from the Press Secretary of the President of the Republic, the Head of State also exonerated General Jose\u0301 Lui\u0301s Caetano Higino de Sousa from the position of Director General of the External Intelligence Service, having been replaced by Matias Bertino Matondo.<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o also exonerated Lieutenant General Artur Santos Vinama from the position of adviser to the Chief of the General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces, and appointed him Deputy Chief of the General Staff for the Operational Area and Development.<\/p>\n

The Commander-in-Chief also appointed General Ada\u0303o Adriano Anto\u0301nio to the position of chairman of the Superior Council of Military Discipline of the General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces.<\/p>\n

General Joa\u0303o Serafim Kiteculo was also appointed as commander of the Army and Lieutenant General Joa\u0303o Cruz da Fonseca as 2nd commander of the Army.<\/p>\n

General Virgi\u0301nio Anto\u0301nio da Cunha Pinto is the new commander of the National Air Force and his deputy is Lieutenant General Emanuel Mendes Vasconcelos, while Vice Admiral Noe\u0301 Rodrigues Joa\u0303o Magalha\u0303es is 2nd commander of the Angolan Navy.<\/p>\n

General Sequeira Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o was appointed deputy head of the Military House of the President of the Republic.<\/p>\n
