Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Youth and Sports, Palmira Barbosa, revealed, in the National Assembly, that the slice allocated to the sector by the General State Budget (OGE) for the financial year of 2023, ensures the continuity of the financial allocation to the National Youth Council (CNJ ) and the reinforcement of the budget reserved for the Angolan Youth Institute (INJ).<\/b><\/p>\n

Responding to the concerns of the deputies, during the Specialized Budget discussion session, last week, the official justified the registration in the OGE of organizations dedicated to working with young people, for the role played in contributing to the satisfaction of the various problems that the youth goes through.<\/p>\n

“There will not be, for now, nor for the next few years, the withdrawal of funds destined for the CNJ”, he said, then clarifying that it is a platform that brings together several organizations and acts as a privileged partner of the Ministry.<\/p>\n

“We have been following its dynamics, in the light of the work we do with other similar organizations”, he added.<\/p>\n

The increase in the amount allocated to the INJ, underlined the minister, aims to boost its performance in terms of social intervention, so that it continues to meet the demands of this population segment, having also referred to the Institute as a partner of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MINJUD) with “responsibilities in the concrete implementation of policies aimed at youth”, in the light of statutory attributions.<\/p>\n

Palmira Barbosa emphasized, on the other hand, the importance of increasing the number of organizations and similar associations, which are willing to work to “help the various problems that affect youth”, provided that, warned the minister, “the action is coordinated , structured, responsible\u201d, and aligned with the sector’s strategies.<\/p>\n

“To avoid possible mistakes in the performance of each one of these and to make an action that could have an impact, in another problem around the population segment”, he reinforced.<\/p>\n

Invited to respond to the concerns expressed by the social partners to the deputies, the minister assured that she accepted the suggestions, having underlined that, since taking over the Youth and Sports portfolio, the first concern was to maintain dialogue with youth and sports associations.<\/p>\n

Regarding the available budget and priority actions, Palmira Barbosa referred that as soon as she took the seat of the “chair” of the MINJUD, she hurried to work with the Ministry of Finance, in the adjustments and occasional relocations.<\/p>\n

Asked to clarify the fact that the Angolan Olympic Committee (COA) is not included in the OGE for the sector, Palmira Barbosa said that she is working with the Ministry of Finance to correct it.<\/p>\n

Likewise, he added, the inclusion of projects for the National Youth Prize, the Superior Council for Youth and the African Games in Ghana, scheduled for this year, is planned.<\/p>\n
