Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Parliamentary Group of UNITA undertook, this Monday, to withdraw the process in the Constitutional Court (TC) on the challenge of the resolution that appointed an MPLA member as 2nd vice-president of the National Assembly.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was provided by the president of the UNITA Parliamentary Group, Liberty Chiaka, at the end of the conference of parliamentary leaders who decided to hold, next Friday (27), an extraordinary plenary meeting to elect the new composition of its bodies, under a proposal by the President of the Chamber, Carolina Cerqueira.<\/p>\n

At the conference of parliamentary leaders, chaired by the president of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, it was decided that the MPLA, which holds the majority in the hemicycle, will take the 1st and 3rd vice-presidencies of Parliament, and UNITA the 2nd and 4th vice-presidencies.<\/p>\n

“With this decision, we must send a note to the Constitutional Court to withdraw the process. With this extraordinary plenary session, the parliamentary conflict in the context of the composition of the Board of the National Assembly ends”, emphasized Liberty Chiaka.<\/p>\n

The MPLA Parliamentary Group had nominated, in September last year, for the posts of vice-president and second vice-president, deputies Ame\u0301rico Cunonoca and Rau\u0301l Lima, respectively.<\/p>\n

UNITA did not participate at the time of that vote and its deputies left the hemicycle en bloc and, in the same month, challenged the resolution that elected the MPLA deputy for the position of 2nd vice-president of the AN.<\/p>\n

UNITA, which is represented in Parliament with 90 deputies, has been complaining for months that the 2nd and 4th vice-presidents of the AN should leave their parliamentary group.<\/p>\n
