Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Government plans to formalize 400,000 economic operators across the country in 2023, through the Informal Economy Reconversion Program (PREI), announced this Wednesday, in Luanda, the Executive Director of the Society for the Development of the Special Economic Zone (ZEE) Luanda\/Bengo, Adriano Celso Borja.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking to journalists, at the ceremony of the balance sheet and perspectives event of the Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP 2022-2023), he stressed that these are metrics that allow accelerating economic growth.<\/p>\n

He explained that, after formalization, economic operators will have easy access to Government programs that leverage economic growth, such as the Program to Support Production, Diversification of Exports and Substitution of Imports (PRODESI) and its associated plans.<\/p>\n

Adriano Celso Borja, who before being appointed to ZEE, was the PREI coordinator, explained that this program reached 251 thousand 450 formalized operators by June 2022, despite having started late.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe PREI made it possible to reach this figure and exceeded the Government’s target, which expected 2,000 companies by the end of 2022, a target also set by the cooperation partner\u201d, he asserted.<\/p>\n

According to the same, the data obtained by PREI reduced the weight of informality on the national economy by 1.2%.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s an exciting number, so the orientation is for this reduction to happen in a more intense and expressive way. The intention is that the informality rate can assume sustainable levels of 1 digit\u201d, he reinforced.<\/p>\n

PREI is an initiative of the Government of Angola carried out by a multi-sectoral commission coordinated by the Ministry of Economy and Planning, with budgetary support from the European Union (EU) and technical assistance from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). ).<\/p>\n

The Informal Economy Reconversion Program plans to rescue 65% of the informal economy’s wasted income, estimated at US$40 billion.<\/p>\n

The process of formalizing the informal economy brings together multisectoral services, namely the National Directorate for Identification, Registration and Notary Services, Municipal Administration, General Tax Administration (AGT), Single Company Guiche\u0301 (GUE) and the National Institute for Employment and Professional Training (INEFOP ).<\/p>\n

It is also part of the National Institute of Support for Micro, Small and Medium-sized Companies (INAPEM), the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) and micro-credit societies.<\/p>\n
