Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The United Methodist Church Maria Madalena, in the municipality of Cazenga, is classified as Historical Cultural Heritage based on Executive Decree 270\/22 of 29 July.<\/b><\/p>\n

The plaque unveiling ceremony should take place within two weeks.<\/p>\n

The property located in the Urban District of Cazenga was implanted in 1965, coming out of the United Methodist Church of Bethel, in addition to the ecclesial mission it also supports the community, in partnership with the State, through a Primary School, where children study at zero cost.<\/p>\n

According to the lay guide of that congregation, Ina\u0301cio Neto, who was speakingto press on Monday, the rise to historical heritage is a “fair recognition” and as a member he feels honored, as this elevation may transcend to new generations. .<\/p>\n

He referred that from this church came several leaders for society, with emphasis on the current bishop of the United Methodist Church, Gaspar Joa\u0303o Domingos, who has been at the head of the organization for over a decade.<\/p>\n

In addition to disseminating Christian doctrine, the Maria Madalena Methodist Church is part of the memory of the population of Luanda and particularly of Cazenga, for its vocation in the fields of education and social assistance, as well as playing an important role in the nationalist awareness of the Angolan people.<\/p>\n

Hence the need to promote its recognition as an important place of memory for that circumscription and beyond, with the local State administration responsible for taking measures for the effective protection and enhancement of said heritage, reads in the decree.<\/p>\n

Ina\u0301cio Neto said that \u201cMaria Madalena\u201d is a biblical name given to the Methodist Church, to honor the woman who followed Christ until his crucifixion and resurrection.<\/p>\n

The United Methodist Church was established in Angola on March 18, 1885, by Bishop William Taylor, accompanied by a caravan of 45 other people, mostly lay people and with various professions, coming from the United States of America.<\/p>\n
