Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>“Os Passos Decisivos da Rainha Njinga” is the title of the most recent literary work by the Angolan writer John Bella, to be presented on Friday, the 3rd, in Luanda, after having launched “Os Primeiros Passos da Rainha Njinga\u201d and “The Return of Queen Njinga”.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the author, this third book is part of the epic, between 1630 and 1641, which includes the conquest of Matamba and the capture of Luanda by the Dutch.<\/p>\n

The work, he says, presents the fierce battles, agreements, war and peace strategies, the wisdom and intelligence of this woman, with an unparalleled path in the history of Angola.<\/p>\n

He made it known that it is a novel with more than five hundred pages, focused on the life of Queen Njinga, the sovereign of the kingdoms of Ndongo and Matamba and has the seal of approval of Editora das Letras, in partnership with Union of Angolan Writers (UEA).<\/p>\n

In a first phase, he confirmed, 3,000 copies of the book will be available, which features a cover illustration by artist Nelo Tumbula and a preface by Brazilian writer and historian Mariana Bracks Fonseca.<\/p>\n

John Bella also added that, in addition to Luanda, the work will be presented in the provinces of Malanje, Cabinda and Cuanza Norte.<\/p>\n

The two books earned the writer national and international recognition, such as a Personality of Cultural Importance Diploma, in Bahia, Brazil, among other awards and distinctions.<\/p>\n

John Bella, literary pseudonym of Jorge Marques Bela, was born in Sambizanga, in Luanda. He is a member of the Union of Angolan Writers and deputy general secretary of the Brigada Jovem de Literatura de Angola (BJLA).<\/p>\n

A sociologist by profession, he has been teaching pre-university education in Luanda since 1988. He has published several books of poems, notably \u201cA\u0301gua da Vida\u201d (1995), \u201cPanelas Cozinharam Madrugadas\u201d (2001), \u201cA Lenda do Gato e o Rato (2007), \u201cAs Orelhas do Coelho He\u0301lio\u201d (2008), \u201cI am the King!\u201d (2010), among others.<\/p>\n
