Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Eighty-eight thousand people from rural communities in five of the six municipalities in Cunene province have access to improved water with the construction and rehabilitation of 109 infrastructures.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was provided this Wednesday by the deputy coordinator of FRESAN\/Camo\u0303es IP, in Cunene province, Juan Molina, stressing that the project also allowed for the creation of 71 field schools and the support of 3,100 farmers.<\/p>\n

With the exception of the municipality of Namacunde, Strengthening Resilience and Food and Nutritional Security in Angola (FRESAN), in Cunene province, is developing nine projects, with a global value of 11.9 million euros.<\/p>\n

In the field of water, he said that FRESAN, in partnership with subsidized civil society organizations, is building and rehabilitating infrastructures for capturing and distributing water for human consumption, animal watering and irrigated agricultural production.<\/p>\n

It also aimed at promoting the sustainability of the management of these water systems, with the training and qualification of 200 young people from the community itself who will be responsible for maintaining, distributing and managing them.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a presentation meeting of six projects, in the municipality of Ombadja, with a global value of seven million euros, of these three, ongoing since 2020 and another three in 2022, with the execution deadline until August 2024.<\/p>\n

He clarified that the projects are being subsidized by five civil organisations, as part of the process of strengthening the resilience of food and nutritional security in communities affected by drought in the south of the country.<\/p>\n

On her turn, the administrator of the municipality of Ombadja praised the existing partnership with FRESAN, whose mechanisms aim to respond to the problem that affect the well-being of the populations.<\/p>\n

He said that FRESAN’s actions have had a positive impact on the aspirations of the population, in which water and rural sanitation, adaptation to agricultural systems, nutritional support and food security are part of the Angolan Government’s programme.<\/p>\n

He recognized the limitations of the State in responding to the various problems that affect the population, especially those linked to climate change, hence the importance of providing public and private partnerships.<\/p>\n

FRESAN is a program for strengthening and resilience and food and nutritional security in Angola, financed by the European Union, with a value of 65 million euros.<\/p>\n

The action aims to reduce hunger, poverty and vulnerability of communities affected by drought in the provinces of Hui\u0301la, Cunene and Namibe.<\/p>\n
