Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The UK Ambassador to Angola, Roger Stringer, highlighted, this Tuesday, in Luena, the agricultural potential of Moxico province.<\/b><\/p>\n

The diplomat who was speaking to the press, after a field visit to the municipality of Camanongue, 52 kilometers north of Luena, acknowledged that the region has water potential and arable land, ensuring support in the minefield clearance process to boost the practice agricultural.<\/p>\n

“The most important thing for us is to continue working to demine these lands with the Grupo Consultor de Minas (MAG)”, he said.<\/p>\n

He called for the need to reinforce the population’s education and awareness program, given the danger posed by mines.<\/p>\n

In the municipality of Camanongue, MAG recently carried out demining in the interior of the municipal headquarters, in an area of \u200b\u200b60 thousand square meters.<\/p>\n

In this region of the province, the diplomat witnessed the detonation of 16 howitzers of 60 millimeters and 82 millimeters, respectively, a projected grenade and a type 72 alpha anti-tank mine.<\/p>\n

UK has Kz 623 million for demining in Angola<\/p>\n

In another intervention carried out, in the commune of Lucusse, the British ambassador announced that the United Kingdom will make available around 623 million kwanzas (equivalent to one million pounds) this year, for the demining program and other projects in the country.<\/p>\n

The diplomat was speaking to the press, as part of a working visit to Moxico province, to inspect the demining work carried out by the Grupo Consultor de Minas (MAG), in some locations in this region of the country.<\/p>\n

the official stressed that the United Kingdom, in cooperation with other partners and donors, will continue to support the demining program in Angola and other projects that guarantee the development of the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn addition to supporting demining, there are many development projects here in Angola, from agriculture, infrastructure, sustainable energy, health and others, every day we encourage British companies to invest in Angola\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Roger Sringer revealed that his country has already invested around 15 million pounds (over nine billion kwanzas) in Angola.<\/p>\n
