Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland in Cunene, this Saturday, in Ondjiva, praised the support received from the provincial government, in favor of improving social conditions and dignity of life.<\/b><\/p>\n

Cunene province has 2,228 former combatants regularly assisted, of which 602 will be registered during this year, to continue to benefit from their pensions.<\/p>\n

The acknowledgment was manifested in a message, read by the former combatant, Vena\u0302ncio Lungameni, on the sidelines of the provincial act on February 4, Day of the Beginning of the Armed Struggle for National Liberation.<\/p>\n

The fighters also asked the provincial government to reinforce the implementation of support and programs to improve agricultural activity and others to guarantee the livelihood of families.<\/p>\n

On his turn, the deputy governor for the Political, Social and Economic sector of Cunene, Apolo Ndinoulenga, said that it is one of the priorities to solve the social problems in the various domains that afflict the population.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government of Cunene and the Executive are committed to dignifying this important fringe of our society, promising to do everything to address the main problems\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

He recalled that the fight against corruption should count on everyone so that the results allowed improving the living conditions of Angolans, being one of the best ways to pay homage to the heroes of the 4th of February.<\/p>\n

He clarified that these men and women, on a day like this, in 1961, unleashed a heroic action, which culminated in National Independence, on November 11, 1975\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Apolo Ndinoulenga encouraged the preservation of the bravery and determination shown in the past with a view to guaranteeing national patriotic awareness, defense of peace, social justice and the country’s historical mosaic.<\/p>\n

The 62nd anniversary of the beginning of the Armed Struggle for National Liberation is celebrated under the motto \u201cPreserving the values \u200b\u200bof the Homeland, Let’s Dignify our Heroes\u201d.<\/p>\n

On February 4, 1961, Angolan patriots armed with machetes launched an attack on the Sa\u0303o Paulo Prison and the House of Reclusion, in Luanda, with the aim of freeing the unjustly imprisoned politicians.<\/p>\n

The action culminated in the proclamation of National Independence, on November 11, 1975, by the then first President of Angola, Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto.<\/p>\n
