Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The process of formalizing the activity of informal economic agents operating in the Mutundo market, in the municipality of Lubango, Hu\u00edla province, begins today.<\/b><\/p>\n

It is expected to formalize around eight thousand bench and street vendors, within the scope of the Informal Economy Reconversion Program (PREI).<\/p>\n

Speaking at the opening of the meeting with economic agents, traditional and religious authorities, the Secretary of State for the Economy, Dalva Ringote Allen, defended, yesterday, in the city of Lubango, the participation of the churches, so that the process of formalizing the activity of the informal economic agents operating in the municipality’s markets cover the largest number of traders.<\/p>\n

Dalva Ringote Allen said that the Faculty of Economics of the Mandume Ya Ndemufayo University (UMN), which covers the provinces of Hu\u00edla and Namibe, also has responsibilities in the process, not only in sharing knowledge, but also in raising awareness about the need for commercial operators to actively participate in this process, on the initiative of the Angolan Government.<\/p>\n

She clarified that the PREI aims to give legal status to women, young entrepreneurs who work every day to support their families.
\nThe official said that the Executive is implementing specific programs aimed at the economic inclusion of the various market operators, mainly street vendors, zungueiras and entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n

In addition to various ministerial departments, the PREI relies on the assistance of provincial governments and municipal administrations.
\nDuring her stay in Hu\u00edla province, Dalva Ringote will visit projects in the productive sector. On Thursday, the PREI will be launched at the Oshomukwiyu market, in the municipality of Kwanhama, in Cunene province, where it is expected to register and formalize around 1,000 informal economic agents.<\/p>\n

The delegation of the Secretary of State for the Economy is made up of the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Credit Guarantee Fund, Manuel Passos, the executive director of the Fund to Support Agrarian Development, Manuel Pedro, the administrator of the National Support Institute, to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Osvaldo Rasgado and by the head of the Department for Economics, Jer\u00f3nimo Pongolola.<\/p>\n

PREI’s field trips have already passed through the markets of KM 30, Luanda Sul, Sanzala, Viana, both in the province of Luanda. The Chissindo (Bi\u00e9) and Quissala (Huambo) markets.
\nSo far, PREI has formalized 69,030 informal entrepreneurs across the country. The program is an initiative of the Government of Angola, carried out by a multisectoral commission, coordinated by the Ministry of Economy and Planning with support from the European Union and technical assistance from UNDP.<\/p>\n
