Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>A total of 521 peasants and producers from the Dombe Grande commune, in the municipality of Bai\u0301a Farta, Benguela province, have been, since September last year, included in the \u201cCarrinho Agri\u201d project, to promote family farming.<\/b><\/p>\n

The results of the first production began to be acquired last Friday, by the promoting company “Carrinho Agri”, whose launch took place in the commune of Dombe Grande, in the province of Benguela, in the presence of members of the Provincial Government of Benguela, with emphasis on the local municipal administrator, Rosalina Kasisa.<\/p>\n

The project’s division manager, Ricardo Zugue, explained that in the Dombe Grande commune, the project benefits 521 peasants and individual producers, who work over 404 hectares, with a forecast of harvesting over 700 tons of maize.<\/p>\n

“The project, designed within the scope of the Strategic Food Reserve, in addition to Benguela, also covers the provinces of Huambo, Cuanza-Sul, Hui\u0301la, Bie\u0301 and Malanje with a total of 58,000 families, who work 54,500 hectares.<\/p>\n

Through the Strategic Food Reserve, the project manager clarified that the operator, in addition to delivering agricultural inputs, buys corn and beans from farmers. The aim is to ensure that imports of these cereals come to an end this year.<\/p>\n

The “Carrinho Agri” project, explained Ricardo Zugue, is versed in “Fostering family farming” and the first results are already being harvested. The commune of Dombe Grande, in the municipality of Bai\u0301a Farta, in Benguela, is the first region to harvest. Ricardo Zigue informed that the province of Benguela will have the harvests a little earlier, followed by Cuanza-Sul.<\/p>\n

With the purchase that is being made, he clarified, the objective is to give the producer a return to the market, bring sustainability to his property, produce and reproduce cereals safely.<\/p>\n

Management of Bai\u0301a Farta satisfied with the results<\/p>\n

The municipal administrator of Bai\u0301a Farta, Rosalina Kasisa, praised the initiative of the “Carrinho Agri” project.<\/p>\n

“We witnessed the first result of the program implemented by Carrinho Agri”, he said, adding that Carrinho, with each passing day, is showing signs that it is a great partner of the Executive, in the necessary impetus to boost agriculture in the country and in a way particular in the municipality of Bai\u0301a Farta.<\/p>\n

He said that for the commune of Dombe Grande, municipality of Bai\u0301a Farta, what was a dream has become a reality, as a result of the amount of corn harvested. “We see the smile on the lips of the first beneficiaries who tried out a new dynamic, the result of all the technical and scientific support provided by the company Carrinho.<\/p>\n

We note that there is a revolution in the way the latter is made, compared to the past in Dombe Grande.<\/p>\n

He said that one of the challenges that jeopardized the project of the local farmers was the inability to acquire agricultural inputs to facilitate the development of the plants.<\/p>\n

“The Cart Agri appears with all the material, even guidance for our farmer to know the amount to put in the soil and to project the harvest for the yield in this agricultural season”, he said.<\/p>\n

He guaranteed that the presence of the project motivates local authorities to raise awareness and mobilize farmers so that they actually adhere to and honor the commitments they assume in the agreements they sign with Carrinho, so that Dombe Grande and beyond can develop and create family income.<\/p>\n

The municipal administrator of Bai\u0301a Farta invited businessmen to invest in the agriculture sector in that district.<\/p>\n

According to the manager, studies are still continuing to discover new arable areas. “In the case of Dombe Grande, we don’t want to confine ourselves only to the spaces discovered by the old Sugar Mill. We have a lot of people trained in the matter, so we have the doors open for all those who want to help Bai\u0301a Farta to develop and transform itself, also, in a true granary, to be able to fight, in the true sense, hunger and poverty.”That is our challenge”, he said, after ensuring that Bai\u0301a Farta also has everything to succeed in the tourism sector.<\/p>\n
