Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Five inoperative water holes were recovered in the municipalities of Cahama, Cuanhama and Cuvelai, Cunene province, with a view to improving supplies to the population and livestock in the regions affected by the drought.<\/b><\/p>\n

Of the rehabilitated boreholes, two are in Cahama, an equal number in Cuanhama and one in Cuvelai, which served more than six thousand inhabitants, in an action carried out by the Development workshop (DW).<\/p>\n

The project, which has been running since February 2022, also provides for the rehabilitation, by 2024, of 30 underground water holes in Cuvelai, Cuanhama, Ombadja and Cahama.<\/p>\n

The information was released this Wednesday by DW’s project coordinator, Nosso Soares, stressing that one million and 600 thousand euros were invested to assist 30 thousand inhabitants of rural communities.<\/p>\n

In a statement, he added that the project intends to guarantee the population’s access to drinking water and the watering of livestock.<\/p>\n

Nossa Soares said that the project will ensure the community management component and train the institutions to be able to move forward with the project.<\/p>\n

He said that the project is funded by the European Union, under the program for Strengthening the Resilience of Food and Nutritional Security in Angola (FRESAN)<\/p>\n

FRESAN is a program for strengthening and resilience and food and nutritional security in Angola, financed by the European Union, with a value of 65 million euros.<\/p>\n

The action aims to reduce hunger, poverty and vulnerability of communities affected by drought in the provinces of Hui\u0301la, Cunene and Namibe.<\/p>\n
