Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The members of the Economic and Social Council, meeting this Friday, in a general assembly, point to employability, the fight against poverty and the reduction of regional asymmetries as one of the main topics to be addressed as advisers.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to Jose\u0301 Octa\u0301vio Serra-Vandunem, coordinator of the Economic and Social Council (CES), the members think about themes that are, on the one hand, transversal, and, on the other, specific and linked to the crisis that the country is experiencing, without prejudice to give their opinion on questions raised by the President of the Republic.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, at the end of the meeting that took place behind closed doors, he said that it served to determine the \u201cmaster key\u201d for the work of the members.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cThe work of the Social Council is to advise the President of the Republic, and we will find, in the working groups, proposals and themes that will find transversality to be discussed and presented\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Election of assistant coordinators<\/b><\/p>\n

In this first assembly, out of a set of four scheduled for this year, the members elected three assistant coordinators for the economic, business and social area.<\/p>\n

This is the former Minister of Finance, Armando Manuel, elected for the economic area, Wanderley Ribeiro for the business area and professor Maria Helena Miguel for the social area.<\/p>\n

For the five-year mandate, for councilor Jose\u0301 Severino they will be proactive, judging by the situation in the country, which in his view will demand a lot from councillors.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

With this Council, which it considers transversal, it augurs a more fruitful governance and oriented to the challenges that the country has, with emphasis on employability, fight against poverty and inequalities, that is, regional asymmetries.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe challenges are many and we will have to work hard and see if, in the medium and long term, we have a better country\u201d, he advanced.<\/p>\n

For employability, Jose\u0301 Severino is of the opinion that more jobs should be created outside the capital, Luanda, where there is an \u201cexcess\u201d population concentration.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is necessary to create attraction so that young people can go to the interior of the country and make their contribution\u201d, advised Jose\u0301 Severino, who advanced that the need for employability in the country is 1.5 million per year.<\/p>\n

The Economic and Social Council is made up of 45 members, represented by various sectors of society.<\/p>\n
