Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Secretary of State for Trade, Amadeu Nunes, held a working meeting with the Executive Secretary of SADC, Elias Magosi at the headquarters of the regional organization in Gaborone, Botswana.<\/b><\/p>\n

At the meeting, which was attended by the Ambassador of Angola to Botswana, Beatriz Morais and the Deputy Executive Secretary of SADC for Regional Integration, Angele Makombo N \u0301tumba, outstanding issues were addressed regarding the process of effective integration of Angola in the SADC Free Trade.<\/p>\n

At the end of the meeting, Elias Magosi, stated that the reason for the existence of SADC is linked to economic integration, with emphasis on the promotion of trade between member states.<\/p>\n

In this perspective, he highlighted the importance of the country in this process.<\/p>\n

“It is fundamental that Angola also becomes a key part of this family of nations in the commercial space”, he stressed.<\/p>\n

The SADC Executive Secretary underlined that as soon as Angola signs and adheres to the agreements, particularly the Protocol on Trade, the country will have opportunities in the negotiation and exchange platforms with other member states.<\/p>\n

Elias Magosi added that Angola would trade more and take advantage of being the second largest economy in the region, which would also bring benefits to other countries in Southern Africa.<\/p>\n

For his part, the Secretary of State for Trade, Amadeu Nunes, highlighted the need to accelerate the process of negotiating Angola’s offer, so that by the end of 2023, the country is effectively integrated into the SADC Free Trade Area. .<\/p>\n

“What we ask is that the process be accelerated so that by the end of 2023 Angola has the entire process completed in the SADC Free Trade Zone, as instructed by His Excellency the President of the Republic”, said the Secretary of State for Commerce .<\/p>\n

The objectives of the Free Trade Area in the SADC Region are fundamentally, the liberalization of intra-regional trade in goods and services; ensure efficient production; contribute to improving the climate for national, cross-border and foreign investments; and to reinforce economic development, diversification and industrialization in the region.<\/p>\n
