Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The president of the Union of Education, Culture, Youth, Sports and Media Workers in Cuanza Norte, belonging to the Union of Unions of Angola (UNTA), Zacarias Carlos Queta, denounced that there is a high degree of disobedience and disorientation among workers affiliated.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the official, who was speaking Saturday in Ndalatando, at the opening of the 1st Ordinary Meeting of the Provincial Council of the trade union organization, this situation is due to the fact that the workers reach the highest degree of dissatisfaction, fruit of the promises given to them made and are not complied with by employers.<\/p>\n

Zacarias Queta informed that the framework of social and economic difficulties that workers have been experiencing in recent years, makes them engage in unconventional practices such as non-compliance with the guidelines of trade union movements.<\/p>\n

“We live in a very crucial and worrying moment where the worker, for reaching the highest degree of discontent, frustration and despair, pays little attention to the unions’ guidelines”, he alluded.<\/p>\n

The official asserted that the Union of Workers of Education, Culture, Youth, Sports and Social Communication (SPTECJDCSCN) has verified the degradation of the social conditions of the class, due to inflation and consequently the reduction of purchasing power.<\/p>\n

Zacarias Queta explained that due to these difficulties experienced by the workers, the SPTECJDCS prepared and sent to the Angolan government in October 2021, due to the IV Congress of the UNTA-Trade Union Confederation, a claim booklet containing several points, among which, the relief of the Labor Income Tax (IRT), appointment and remuneration in management and leadership positions, improvement of working conditions, protection and safety at work, among others.<\/p>\n

During the event, in which around 40 union leaders from the 10 municipalities of the province took part, the participants discussed and analyzed the current situation of workers in the province, the activities report for 2022, as well as the financial report, having approved with slight amendments the referred documents.<\/p>\n

The event adjusted the Provincial and Fiscal Council for Discipline and Control from 35 to 51 members and recommended that union members carry out regular aid and control visits to municipalities in order to strengthen union activity at the grassroots and better publicize its action and line of force. .<\/p>\n

Participants also recommended that union officials work with employers to continue the process of insertion and reinsertion of the union dues, as well as requesting the Confederation of Unions for Culture, Youth, Sports and Social Communication for the term of reference for the practical implementation of the agreement signed between the institutions.<\/p>\n

Greater organization, mobilization and recruitment of more members for the organization that has more than four thousand members, of which 1,059 have their dues up to date, as well as the control of dues, appear to be the main tasks to be carried out by the union this year.<\/p>\n
