Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The president of the Episcopal Conference of Angola and Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 (CEAST), Dom Jose\u0301 Manuel Imbamba, considered, this Monday, in Luena, positive the proposal of the Executive on the new Political-Administrative Division (DPA) of the province of Moxico .<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, at the end of an audience with the provincial governor of Moxico, Ernesto Muangala, the prelate said that he could boost development and improve the quality of life of the population.<\/p>\n

Dom Jose\u0301 Manuel Imbamba exemplified the administrative division of Moxico province, the largest in the country in terms of territorial extension (with 223,023 square kilometres), as a path that will bring valences to the development of the region.<\/p>\n

“This measure will offer more services and opportunities for remote communities to feel connected and close to basic social services”, he maintained.<\/p>\n

Jose\u0301 Imbamba, Metropolitan Archbishop of Saurimo, also defended the need to maintain a permanent dialogue between the different institutions of the State in order to solve the country’s problems and guarantee the well-being of the communities.<\/p>\n

In the meeting with the governor, he reiterated the intention of the Catholic Church to create the diocese of Cazombo, in the municipality of Alto-Zambeze, to allow greater administration of the region and consequent “removal of the isolation in which it finds itself”.<\/p>\n

On his turn, governor Ernesto Muangala highlighted the “good partnership” existing between the State and the Church in solving the social problems that affect the population.<\/p>\n

The proposal of the Political-Administrative Division foresees the alteration of the State’s model of municipality, approved by the Council of Ministers, with the division of the provinces of Cuando Cubango and Moxico in two, thus making twenty (20) provinces and the increase of 164 for 581 municipalities.<\/p>\n

The proposal envisages creating 19 municipalities for the province of Moxico and 11 jurisdictions for Cassai Zambeze, the likely new province.<\/p>\n

The country’s New Political-Administrative Division aims to promote the harmonious development of the national territory. It should go to Parliament after the approval of its final version by the Council of Ministers.<\/p>\n
