Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The country will soon have a single social protection base, said this Tuesday, in Luanda, the Minister of Social Action, Family and Women’s Promotion, Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the opening of the training seminar for technicians and managers in social protection policies, the official said that she will be able to bring together information from various sectors, in order to facilitate the management of cases that require intervention in this area.<\/p>\n

It will also allow access to information on areas where the implementation of social protection projects are or are not succeeding, as well as knowing who the vulnerable people are and how social support in the country will be carried out.<\/p>\n

In order to achieve this goal, the MASFAMU portfolio holder considered it necessary that those involved in this process be duly trained to better serve.<\/p>\n

As for training, which takes place in partnership with UNICEF and the European Union, the minister said that it constitutes a moment for sharing international experiences in social protection, with a view to guaranteeing citizens’ rights through integrated platforms.<\/p>\n

In this framework, he stressed, it is expected to deepen the knowledge of the techniques and methods used to establish the financially sustainable social protection regime, to strengthen the capacities and abilities of the participants in the sense of designing and implementing strategies to reform the schemes and expand the coverage of the social protection.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe still hope for an understanding of the importance of extending social protection as a mechanism to reduce poverty and social inequalities\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

UNICEF is committed to child social protection<\/p>\n

In turn, the UNICEF representative, Ivan Yerovi, referred that social protection is at the heart of the response to important challenges for children in Angola, as the country’s economic growth and development, the strengthening of human capital and, above all, the well-being of -being of its inhabitants, involves providing a solution to this area.<\/p>\n

Ivan Yerovi further clarified that effective social protection systems are recognized globally as powerful tools to provide income security, prevent and reduce poverty and inequality, as well as promote social inclusion and dignity.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe mission of the ministerial and auxiliary department of the Executive branch is to propose and implement social policies relating to the most vulnerable individuals and groups of the population and coordinate the implementation of the national policy of Social Action\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

UNICEF, in partnership with the International Labor Organization (ILO), has supported the strengthening of the capacities of key actors in the national social protection system through training, within the scope of the Program \u201cImproving Synergies between Social Protection and Management of Public Finance\u201d.<\/p>\n

The training event in social protection will take place from February 28th to March 3rd, with the work divided into eight sessions and four work groups.<\/p>\n
